Popular question and ANSWERS

When should I call a moving company?

The earlier, the better. Although the actual truck assignment may not be made until a few days before your move, it’s a good idea to give your moving company four to six weeks notice, if possible. The more lead time you can give, the more likely we will be able to meet your preferred delivery schedule.

Do I need an estimate?

It is usually better to get a moving estimate. With our free, in-home moving quotes, we can better assess the needs of your move in relation to truck size, man power and materials. We will also be able to give you a more realistic estimate of the time and cost involved.

How should I prepare my fridge?

This should be emptied and wiped clean throughout. If it is going into storage, wiping the interior with vanilla essence will help keep any mildew at bay. Guardian Removals will store the fridge in accordance with manufacturers recommendations. More info here

How Much Notice Will Be Required?

As much notice as possible of your removal dates is favourable; the earlier the better. Scheduling well in advance ensures you are able to move on your desired date.

What happens if I can’t be at the property when the furniture arrives?

You should arrange to have a person who will act as your agent and who can take delivery of your goods at the time you have agreed with the removalist. You should inform Guardian Removals that you have appointed an agent and give them contact information. If you can’t do this, you may need to make arrangements with Guardian Removals to store your goods until you can take delivery. This may result in a storage fee, extra handling charges and a redelivery fee. Under no circumstances will your property be left at an address without you being in attendance.

When do I have to pay for the work that is done? Do I have to pay up front?

Payment is made just prior to completion of the job at delivery.

Can I pack my own boxes or give instructions on packing?

You can pack your own boxes but if there are any breakages in those boxes, Guardian Removals will take no responsibility nor will these items be covered by insurance. And unless you have training as a packer, we advise you refrain from instructing the removalist on how to pack.

If need be, can the removalist help me with storage?

Yes we can. Guardian Removals have a large storage warehouse in Bellevue and cater to long-term or short-term storage requirements.

Can I move food?

If the removal occurs on the same day and all boxes and jars are properly sealed, this is possible. No food will be acceptable for storage unless it is canned or vacuum-sealed.
